The Unistax® range of high power industrial power supplies from Powerstax offer high levels of ruggedness and is designed for use in stringent industrial applications. Available with single and three phase inputs Unistax® power supplies offer output voltages up to 200V and output power up to 10kW. To simplify system integration there are multiple mechanical options available including chassis and 19” rack mount versions.

Powerstax Unistax® models can exceed 95% efficiency and are fully thermally protected. Standard features include constant voltage or constant current operational modes, overvoltage and over current protection and a number of status indicators and remote control functions are available. Nominal output voltages are 8 to 200VDC with output adjustable from 50-100% voltage or current, with 0-100% available as an option. Operating temperature range is 0° to 40°C and output remote sense and current sharing is available to special order.

Powerstax Display Latest High Efficiency Power Solutions and Recently Acquired Drake Power Ranges at Electronica 2012

Electronica 2012Powerstax showcase their most recent power conversion product introductions, technology trends and the recently acquired high power Drake transformer rectifier product ranges at Electronica 2012.

The recent Drake Power acquisition allows Powerstax to offer customers automatic transformer rectifier systems up to 500kVA and beyond. These are typically thyristor controlled with modular switch-mode technology available for smaller systems.

The markets served by Drake include Marine, Offshore, Cathodic Protection, Water Treatment (Electrochlorination), Electrochemical and Plating, Medical, Aerospace, Military equipment including Frequency Converters and Aircraft Ground Support and many others. These generally bespoke power solutions are suitable for harsh (marine, offshore, desert) and hazardous (Zone 1 and Zone 2) environments. The systems can be oil, air or water cooled and can be sealed up to IP65 if the environment dictates.

Continuing development of their own patented high efficiency full-brick power solutions, Powerstax will have on their booth a number of configurable rack mounted power supplies, vehicle mountable power solutions for harsh environments and the latest in 1U, baseplate cooled technology offering up to 500W output.

Further development of Powerstax’s high-efficiency power converters will see new developments for fuel cell power conversion for electric vehicles.

400 to 1200W Standard and Medical Power Supplies

Powerstax Ultra Low Noise Power SuppliesNew additions to the Powerstax Multistax® and Medistax® low profile configurable power supply ranges offer low acoustic noise power solutions for audio, broadcast, office and home applications and patient monitoring and medical equipment where ambient noise is required to be kept to a minimum. Both new low noise ranges have a standard noise output of 42.7dBA with an additional ultra-quiet version measured at just 38.3dBA being available, providing 800W maximum output.

These new high efficiency power supplies carry full safety agency approvals including UL and EN60950 and EN60601-1 3rd Edition and meet EMI limits, including FCC Class B and EN55022 Class B as well as all relevant Immunity limits.

Powerstax Multistax® and Medistax® low noise power supplies can provide up to 1200W in an extremely compact 1U x 260mm x 127mm package, while offering industry leading power density of 15W/in3 and efficiencies of up to 90%. Designed around an innovative plug and play architecture users can configure a custom power solution in less than 5 minutes. The Medistax® family offers 4000VAC isolation with less than 300µA leakage current and a 150µA option is available.

Standard output voltages from 1.5 to 24VDC are available and all output modules are isolated allowing them to be combined in series or parallel for non-standard output voltages or higher current requirements.

For higher power requirements the Powerstax A3600, based on the Multistax® low noise platform, can provide single and very flexible multiple output solutions up to 3600 watts of output power in a 1U high and 350mm deep 19“ rack mount package.

The acquisition expands Powerstax’s product range and market address which fits with their strategy of moving into higher power sectors and ‘greener’ markets.

The markets served by DP Energy include Marine, Offshore, Cathodic Protection, Water Treatment (Electrochlorination), Electrochemical and Plating, Medical, Aerospace, Military equipment including Frequency Converters and Aircraft Ground Support and many others.

DP Energy excels in the design and manufacture of automatic transformer rectifier systems up to 500kVA and beyond. Powerstax appoints Intelligent PowerPowerstax has appointed Texas based Intelligent Power Inc. as a value added reseller for the North American market. Based in Austin, Intelligent Power will be able to provide Powerstax customers with locally based design and engineering support for power conversion systems employing the wide range of high efficiency, highly configurable Powerstax full brick converters and power shelves.

Established since 2005 Intelligent Power has a customer base which includes MIL, aerospace, RF and IT equipment manufacturers, all markets where Powerstax products are widely used. The A3600 series of power supplies from Powerstax offers system builders a convenient and compact power source for applications including communications, industrial, medical, instrumentation and test & measurement. Offering up to 3600 watts of output power in a 1U high and 350mm deep 19“ rack mount package the Powerstax A3600 can provide single and very flexible multiple output solutions.

All outputs are isolated and may be connected in series or parallel to provide many thousands of possible output configurations or up to 36 individually adjustable single outputs. Input voltage range is nominal 115VAC or 230VAC.

The design and topology of the Powerstax A3600 makes it possible to individually adjust, enable, parallel or stack the outputs to provide literally thousands of power solutions and allows rapid mainstream production turnaround of CE marked configured units in a matter of weeks.
