Point of Load DC-DC Converter Modules from Powerstax plc

POWERSTAX provides a comprehensive range of market leading, high efficiency, high power density, DC-DC converters for Point-of-Load applications.

A feature of the ranges is the variety and wide range of input voltages. These include

2.4V-5.5V, 8V-18V, 8.5V-16V, 9V-36V and 18V-36V

The converters utilise an integrated magnetics design to improve thermal performance and achieve a low profile. High efficiency and enhanced thermal performance allow these modules to deliver high output current in challenging environments.

See tables below for range details.

The NAS Series of non-isolated point-of-load (POL) dc-dc converters deliver up to 20A of current in industry-standard SMT package, with ultra-high efficiency and unparalleled thermal performance. The NAS converters were developed to provide competitive cost, high performance, high reliability, and flexibility of use in a wide range of applications. The open frame design with integrated magnetics has a low profile, achieving industry-leading power density of up to 1000W/in3 and enabling enhanced airflow for nearby components.

As a benefit of high efficiency and the resulting superior thermal performance, these converters can provide high output currents in challenging environments.

Models with fixed and variable output voltages are available with output current levels of 12A and 20A. Throughhole converters (NAT Series) are also available in industry standard SIP packages. These POLs provide input under-voltage lockout, remote sense, +/-10% output voltage trim, overload and short circuit protection and over-temperature shutdown as standard features. Also available are optional output over-voltage protection which provides increased protection and system reliability in practical applications. The output voltage sequence/tracking feature allows the output voltage to track an external signal during startup and shutdown in systems with sensitive powering timing requirements.

The NAT Series of non-isolated point-of-load (POL) dc-dc converters delivers up to 12A of current in industry standard SIP packages with high efficiency and unparalleled thermal performance. The NAT converters provide competitive cost, high performance, high reliability and quality, and flexibility of use in a wide range of applications. The open frame design with integrated magnetics has a small footprint (2’’x0.27’’), achieving industry-leading power density and enhanced airflow for nearby components. As a benefit of the high efficiency and resulting superior thermal performance, these converters can provide high output currents in challenging environments with simple thermal management. These converters provide input under-voltage lockout, remote sense, 10% output voltage trim, overload and short circuit protection and over-temperature shutdown as standard
features.

Also available are optional output over-voltage protection which provides increased protection and
system reliability in practical applications. The output voltage sequence/tracking features allows the output voltage to track an external signal during startup and shutdown in systems with sensitive powering timing requirements. To further improve thermal performance in extreme environments, NetPower offers a baseplate option for these POL converters. The baseplate option also allows the converters to be used in conduction-cooled systems. NAT POL converters are available with fixed output or variable output (0.75V – 3.3V) voltage models. They are excellent choices for today’s densely packed systems with limited board space
